Like a nice roast turning over an open fire, the Wheel of Time has turned to Teaser Tuesday.
Just in case you don’t know, Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by Books and a Beat. Anyone can play along! All you have to do is grab the book you’re currently reading, open to a random page and share a few sentences from that page. But make sure you don’t share any spoilers!*
*I wish I could take credit for this introduction, but I shamelessly stole it from Heather over at bitsnbooks. To help me make amends, you should go check out her blog.
This week I’m reading The Prisoner of Heaven by Carlos Ruiz Zafon. I’m still waiting for someone to explain why his books are shelved under “R” for Ruiz and not “Z” for Zafron. Anyway, I enjoyed both Shadow of the Wind and The Angel’s Game, so I’m looking forward to this next book in the Cemetery of Forgotten Books series. Apparently there is a book “2.5” in the series, The Rose of Fire. Sadly, my library does not have this book in its system.
The Truly Random Number Generator sends us to page 177:
"That's a deal. I hereby hire you a assistant articled clerk for Brians & Brians, defenders of the insolvent." "As my name is Fermín, I swear that before the week is over I will have found you a customer of the sort who pays up front and in cash."
In Retrospect:
The Angel’s Game by Carlos Ruiz Zafon
I love metaphysical, philosophical thrillers, and The Angel’s Game did not disappoint. The last few chapters . . . wow, what a trip.
I would have preferred knowing this was a prequel to Shadow of the Wind before I started reading, but I figured it out easily enough.
Gothic horror at its finest.
4 stars.
I’ve never read this author and I’m not sure he’s for me. I hope you enjoy the book. This week my teaser comes from Of Noble Family by Mary Robinette Kowal. Happy reading!

I love the cover and many thanks for giving a bit more of an idea of what the book is about – I find it very helpful to gauge whether I’ll like it or not. Unfortunately for my teetering TBR pile – this series looks really intriguing. *sigh* Sadly, I need to do other things than just read… My offering this week is a far future adventure

Not sure this type of book is for me….I’m typically not into anything horror related. But you make the series sound interesting nonetheless. Thanks for sharing! My teaser this week can be found at: http://abookaddictsview.blogspot.com/2016/05/teaser-tuesday.html

Something tells me I’d like this series. I think I’ll check the first book out at the library if they carry it.
