It’s Sunday morning, and that can only mean one thing: last night, I made and ate a hamburger. Specifically, a burger featured on the hit series, Bob’s Burgers.

When the kids visit a marionette theatre for a school field trip, Louise’s less-than-enthusiastic attitude puts her on the owner’s bad side. Will a marionette showdown put things right? What could go wrong?!?
Back at the restaurant, a flyer peddler has chosen his spot for the day – right in front of Bob’s window! With the guy scaring off customers, what’s a man to do??
About the Burger
According to the show, this burger should come with pickled ginger. Due to allergies in the pickling, I replaced the pickled ginger with a related Asian flavor.
- 1.25 lbs burger
- 3-4 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 TBS + 1 tsp lightly dried cilantro
- 1 TBS sesame oil
- 1 tsp ground ginger
- 1 tsp salt
- Heirloom tomato; 1-2 slices per burger
Mix everything but the tomato together and form into patties. I got 5 out of my particular mix.
While patties are cooking, slice an heirloom tomato of your choice.
When patties have finished cooking, put patties on buns and top each burger with some of the tomato. You may want to add a pinch of salt to enhance the flavor.
The burger was good, but I’m not sure the heirloom tomatoes made enough of a difference to justify their price. You could probably stick to regular tomatoes and be just f ine.
