Sunday Snapshots

What did I do this week?

Well, I went to a three-day teacher’s convention, where I managed to take pictures of my breakfasts:

I came back Friday; on Saturday a ran a 5k – my first official race in 2 years.

My head even made it into our local paper’s coverage of the event:

Don’t forget to follow me on:

Facebook – where I share news stories, articles from other blogs, and various and sundry miscellany that happens to catch my eye. It’s stuff you won’t see here! Well, mostly.

Instagram – where I show you my Life in Motion and share quotes and such. The widget only shows my last three photographs – don’t you want to see them all?

Twitter – where you can see my thoughts in 140 characters or less. Also, funny retweets.

Don’t Cross the Boundary

If you follow American news, you know a storm battered the Southeast this week. Krystal called it “a hurricane without the hurricane.” Schools shut down and businesses closed early as roads went underwater. On Monday, I took some video and photographs to make this montage:

On returning from my rainy journey, I felt this photograph best fit the “boundary” challenged via the Daily Post:

Sunday Snapshots

As you might remember, my folks visited this week.

Saturday

They arrived Saturday afternoon and wanted to go out to dinner.

Mom chose Red Robin (Yum!); so we piled into the van and away we went.

Halfway there I realized I was still in my work shirt.

Luckily, Red Robin is attached to the mall, and one of the stores had a sale.

Sunday

On the way out the door for Sunday church, Mom realized that Dad and I dressed very similarly:

As we were close to the beach, we visited Fort Macon and Atlantic Beach between the morning and evening services.

First up, Fort Macon:

As I wandered around looking for unique architectural details, I noticed something about the springer.

Then, it was on to the beach!

And onto the beach, as it were.

That evening, we were back at church. What luck it was a fellowship night!

Monday

We went shopping for groceries to make apple pie.

Dad also cleaned our coffee pots. He did a good job, even if I did have to stop him from trying to take apart the Keurig.

Tuesday

We visited the Farmer’s Market and Tryon Palace

I made a Venison Roast, which I didn’t take a picture of; however, we did have apple pie and vanilla ice cream for desert:

Wednesday

Mom and Dad left Wednesday morning, but not before we ate breakfast at Baker’s Kitchen

Thursday – Saturday

Soon after they left, I developed all the symptoms of a simply wonderful summer cold.

So, I used the time to catch up on my TBR:

Photography 101: The Gallery

It happens to the best of us: we begin a post, save it as a draft, and then completely forget to publish it. The best laid plans of mice and men, and all that . . . Two weeks ago I’d planned to publish a gallery of my favorite photographs from Photography 101. I’d chosen my pictures, placed them in some semblance of order, and thought everything was taken care of. Imagine my surprise when I checked my drafts to see what was close to being finished so I could publish something today (tomorrow, at the latest) only to see my already-done photo gallery still unpublished and seemingly screaming “Pick Me! Pick Me!”

So, without further ado, here’s a few of my favorite photographs from Photography 101:

Triumph

Nothing says “Triumph” better than a bow tie – even if one of them is pre-tied.

Seeing Double

This assignment had me seeing double. Not out of anger, mind you, but out of necessity. It took me longer than usual to find something to photograph. Unless, of course, you want to see multiple high school text books.

Personally, I think the wait was worth it.

A downpour darkened the ground and amplified these lines in the afternoon light.

A few feet away, rainwater pools in a storm drain.

Stating your opinion is giving your “two cents.”

People only want to pay a “penny for your thoughts.”

Where does the other cent go?

Who cares – they look good in this bottle.
