Monday Morning Coffee

I’m sorry we weren’t able to meet Saturday, but I’m here now. Let’s talk about the week that was over a hot, strong cup of coffee. Continue reading “Monday Morning Coffee”

I accomplished two things this week:

First, I helped fix the drainage at the school:

Second, I salvaged some old books from the dumpster:

Oh, and K’s plans got moved to this week. You know what that means:

For the record, I also got Wal-Mart brand Ginger Ale like I said I would last weekend.

What about the milkshake? For a whole 40ยข more, I bought this carton of ice cream! w00t!

Hey, before you go, would you mind giving me your opinion?

What did I do this week?

Well . . .

I finally finished my shrubbery; Kelly oversaw the final cleanup.

The foreman always has the cushy job!

A friend visited from Georgia; we went bowling!

Obviously these are not our real names; can you guess who I was?

Oh, and here are the scores:

Sadness.

Despite my post yesterday, I’m still proud to be an American.

I wore my traditional Old Navy Flag Tee:

As you [probably] know, this week I masqueraded as my alter ego:

Roger the ShrubberI started working every morning before sunrise;

111+ heat indexes are not to be trifled with!

My working hours looked remarkably the same:

I counted at least twelve trips to the solid waste recycling center.

The center is only open Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

There was even one incredibly large azalea that turned out to be six separate plantings grown together.

However, the Master Shrubber has power to create . . . and to destroy:

Being summer in the South. every afternoon brought rain showers.

I spent quite a bit of time waiting this week:

Concrete Drawbridge

I waited at this bridge four times in one day – four times!

Stopped at Train Tracks

Stopped at the railroad tracks with the only alternate route blocked.

At least I got a good view!

Crow at Lunchtime

This crow waited for me to drop some of my lunch.

I didn’t.

Neither did K.

Turtle 2

This turtle waited to cross the road.

I helped him out a few days later in an extreme downpour.

Smokey Waiting

Smokey waited for K to come home after an 11-hour shift.

Yard Trimmings 2

I did some yard work; now I’m waiting for the city to remove this pile of yard trimmings.

Yes, I checked to make sure they would pick it up.

They’ll get to it . . . eventually.

There’s less now; this visitor beat them to it.
Nothing like a free buffet!

On the other hand, there are two things I no longer have to wait for:

Internet Install

This cable brings me high-speed internet
in my own home.

Now I can stream Netflix and Pandora without using my cell phone data.

I can also stream podcasts without using cell phone data or taking up space on my cell phone.

Space I need for photos.

Clogged Sink

After pulling all this gunk out of my sink, I can measure the drain time with a stopwatch instead of a sundial or hourglass.

I even took a video:
