It’s World Sea Turtle Day! Despite their name, sea turtles spend most of their time in water but tend to stay close to land and navigate the waters using Earth’s magnetic fields. Since sea turtles can live to be 100 years old or more, let’s do our part to ensure they reach a ripe old age.

When George and I went to Guatemala, we wanted so badly to travel to Costa Rica to help with the sea turtles hatching. We weren’t allowed to go as it just wasn’t safe to travel cross country.

We have sea turtle nesting grounds about two hours from us. I’ve not been there during hatching season, but I’ll admit it’s pretty interesting to see local hatching updates
