Happy Cow Appreciation Day! Today we celebrate these gentle giants responsible for the deliciousness of milk, cheese, and more. Take a moment to appreciate these udderly amazing animals and party til the cows come home – they’re truly outstanding in their fields!
Image: Houdini the Cow resides at the St Louis Gentle Barn. In this photo, he is in a recumbent pose on the ground. He is large and brown with a white patch along his face between his eyes and stretching down toward his pink nose. A single piece of hay or straw sticks out of his mouth. He looks toward the camera with a peaceful gaze.
I know that technically Houdini is not a cow. I’m using “cow” here in the common usage haha 😂

many years ago, my husband George built a trebuchet in our backyard. Now, we were living somewhat in the “boonies” and the only thing near us was a 200 acre cattle ranch …accessible thru our back yard. I had installed fencing so the cows would remain on their side of the field. George decided to test his trebuchet and loaded it with small pumpkins then shot them over the fence into the field…thinking it worked just fine and no one would ever know where he’d shot his pumpkins…..then we got a visit from a local sheriff’s deputy who had a picture on his phone….of a cow with a pumpkin attached to his (her???) horn. George had to jump the fence and clean up his mess, and the cow’s owner sold the picture to stock photos and made a mint, while George got a 25 dollar fine for “littering cows”.

littering cows?? And the farmer should be thanking you for passive income! Now I want to see if the picture is still out there
