Sweet and Sour

It’s strawberry rhubarb pie day and I took one out of the oven a few hours ago so it should be just about ready to eat. I’ll cut us each a slice while you decide on drinks and we’ll sit and chat about the week that was.

Strawberry Rhubarb Pie Day

It’s Strawberry-Rhubarb Pie Day! I have fond memories of picking rhubarb with my grandma, and while this type of pie is my second-favorite after apple, it doesn’t grow well where I am now. A quick search online told me I could get a frozen one at Walmart, so with fingers crossed I made the trip, hoping the online inventory wasn’t lying to me. Now, a strawberry-rhubarb pie has been acquired. Will it be as good as my mom’s? No. But it’s also more than I hoped for here in eastern North Carolina. I’ll be enjoying the later on this evening!

Gin Day

Cheers to World Gin Day! In my experience folks either love it or hate it, and for me, I love it. Whether you like it extra dry with a twist of lemon in a Gin & Tonic or infused with additional botanicals (like I do) in a classy cocktail like a Bee Knees (also a favorite), let’s raise a toast (responsibly)

Donut Day

Happy Donut Day – the day that’s all about grabbing your favorite donut and enjoying every bite. My personal favorites are blueberry cake, Boston cream, and lemon filled. Also, Dunkin in infinitely superior to Krispy Kreme. What are your favorite donuts or controversial donut opinions?

Cats and Cheese: Anything Better?

Today’s the purrfectly cheesy blend of Hug Your Cat Day and Cheese Day! Give your feline friend an extra cuddle as you chow down on your favorite cheese – and don’t forget to pay the Cheese Tax; they can have a little cheese, as a treat

Share your cats and/or cheeses and spread the joy!

World Cider Day

It’s World Cider Day. I once picked apples for an orchard to make cider; I don’t think I was very good at it, though. Nevertheless, whether you enjoy it hot or chilled, crisp and dry, sweet and fruity, or with a hint of spice, celebrate today by raising a glass of your favorite cider!
