Sunday Snapshots

Sometimes I forget what I’ve done over the past week.

Then I look at the photos on my camera and think “Oh yeah! I remember that!”

Such was the case this week.

Mr Toms Birthday CupcakesMr. Tom’s birthday was this week.

He turned 97.

He wanted cupcakes, so he got cupcakes.

I”ll be honest, the “balloons” looked a bit odd.

Blackened WalmartApparently I went to Walmart at some point. I know it was during a storm, and for whatever reason the overhead lights were out. Everything else was working just fine . . . just not the lights. Go figure.

I’m fining I take quite a few pictures of food . . . maybe so I can remember what I ate? For example: I went to Wendy’s when K was craving something salty and we had nothing in the house; I picked up some french fries and a vanilla frosty to go with them. On Monday, a student brought me a bacon and egg croissant from Dunkin’ Donuts. And, for reasons yet unknown, I took a picture of buttered bread.

I think I took this picture of a book and coffee for last week’s photo challenge (today was a good day) but never posted it. In other book news, the last Discworld novel The Shepherd’s Crown was released. The last book is for me to keep track of stuff in. So long as I don’t lose that book, I’m ok.

And finally, this past Friday was National Bow Tie Day (International??)

One word dominated my week:

School

Teacher Grade BookA sure omen that summer break has ended.

classroom 2015-2016I finished my classroom with hours to spare.

I wrote the rough draft to a veteran’s day program – 6,000 words – in under 24 hours. Editing takes place this weekend; roles assigned on Monday; rehearsals begin Tuesday – only 46 school days to performance.

Sticky Notes Veteran's DaySo many sticky notes! So many references!

School began Friday; this was the first thing I did upon arriving:

first coffe of school 2015-2016Yes, it was gone by 10:00.

Oh, someone donated 2000 square feet of sod.

laying sod 1 laying sod 2Teachers wear many hats; now I can add “sod layer” to the list.

Don’t forget to follow me on:

Facebook – where I share news stories, articles from other blogs, and various and sundry miscellany that happens to catch my eye. It’s stuff you won’t see here! Well, mostly.

Instagram – where I show you my Life in Motion and share quotes and such. The widget only shows my last three photographs – don’t you want to see them all?

Twitter – where you can see my thoughts in 140 characters or less. Also, funny retweets.

Sunday Snapshots

I accomplished two things this week:

First, I helped fix the drainage at the school:

Second, I salvaged some old books from the dumpster:

Oh, and K’s plans got moved to this week. You know what that means:

For the record, I also got Wal-Mart brand Ginger Ale like I said I would last weekend.

What about the milkshake? For a whole 40¢ more, I bought this carton of ice cream! w00t!

Hey, before you go, would you mind giving me your opinion?

Wicked Word Wednesday No. 1

Blogging 201 challenged me to create a blogging event.

So, it is with greatest pride and deepest pleasure that I present to you

Wicked Word Wednesday Logo 3As this is the inaugural Wicked Word Wednesday, I’ll take some time to explain the rules. If you’ve already read the rules, feel free to jump to today’s Wicked Word.

Each Wednesday, I reveal a new Wicked Word.

I choose the Wicked Word based on a few mathematical algorithms and the New American Heritage College Dictionary.

Then, it’s up to you to compose a post around that word.

Be creative with your poetry, prose, or photography.

Who:

! YOU !

What:

Create something that will move and inspire!

I welcome all forms of prose, poetry, and photography; however, please avoid graphic/excessive profanity or overtly disturbing mental images.

Use common sense: what would you want children reading or viewing?

One entry per person regardless of category.

Where:

Post your entry on your own blog.

Please link back to the current challenge

Post a link to your entry in the comment box of the current week’s  prompt post.

From the home page, click on the current Wicked Word Wednesday.

Scroll to the bottom of the page and enter your link in the comment box.

Indicate which category your post falls into (Prose, Poetry, Photography)

Include your Twitter handle if you have one.

No social media?

Leave a name or nom de plume so I can give praise if you’re a winner.

When:

A prompt will post on the home page of this blog on Tuesdays at midnight (Eastern Time).

You will have until midnight (Eastern Time) on Wednesday to link your entry in the comment section.

Any entries time stamped after midnight on Wednesday of that week will not be eligible.

For sake of clarity, I am on New York Time.

Still confused? Check the World Clock!

Winners are announced Saturday or Sunday here on the blog as well as on Twitter and Facebook.

Why:

Get those creative juices flowing.

Read other blogs and comment. I hope to grow a Wicked Word Wednesday community.

Furthermore, most everyone enjoys feedback!

The life of an artist can become cloistered and lonely without a network of positive creative types.

Invite others to join in. This is for fun, creative inspiration, and a great way to connect with other creative types.

Did I mention you get bragging rights and a cool badge to post on your site (or original blog post) if you are a winner?
