December 7. Missing my friend Mr Tom more than ever today. Grateful for Tryon Palace recognizing him last year, and for taking this picture.
Yesterday was the 75th anniversary of the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor, an event which brought the United States into World War II. One of the men serving at Pearl on that day was my friend and “adopted grandfather” Chief (ret) Tom Poole, stationed on the North Carolina.
