I’ve already had two cups, but there’s always room for more. Sit down and chat a bit.
Our Florentine Exile continues. Rivers still haven’t crested, there’s miles-long traffic jams headed into town, and last night we were told the town was once again cut off.
Be that as it may, we’re headed home tomorrow. At some point we have to start helping our friends and family put their lives back together, encourage them and love them as they find a new normal after this disaster. Work and school will start again, and the routine will be good for everyone.
It’s been good staying with family. We’ve enjoyed the time we’ve spent together. We’re grateful for the safe haven in the storm. We’re also anxious to get back home.
My body is getting angry with me. It’s been two weeks since I’ve been able to run properly, but that’s my own fault: I didn’t bring my running gear with me, and I certainly could have. Ah well.
Today’s the first day of Autumn, but it doesn’t feel like it. 78 degrees and 70% humidity. I’m ready for sweater weather; I even bought a lovely orange knit pullover.
It’s also Bilbo & Frodo Baggins’ birthdays, if you celebrate birthdays for literary characters.
Anyway, that’s all I’ve really got to say. I’ve already updated you on my reading reviews and WIP progress.
What have you been doing?
We’ve been living through our own storm as our 1924 house, still with a lot of original wiring, is being completely redone after a loud bang in one wall alerted us to necessity about the same time Florence hit the coast. But we’re not flooded or burned down and so facing it all with as much grace and patience as we can.
