Breathe Deep – It’s Spooky Season!

For the past several days, Tropical Storm Ophelia made its way through our area. Today, the sun is shining and I’ve opened the curtains. There are squirrels outside. Let’s sit and chat, why not?

The last several weeks I’ve looked at the WordPress app and thought “I should write something” but then just haven’t done it. But quite a free things have happened that I could have shared with you.

Like the one night there was a mysterious blue glow coming from somewhere and I thought it odd until I investigated and found that I’d left out a set of glow-in-the-dark dice.

Then our local Spirit Halloween opened and I made two purchases: an antlered necklace and a set of stacking jars.

I’m using the jars to hold my cone incense but I had to get it (with a coupon!) because it had the word “Belladonna” on it. Belladonna was the name of my most recent D&D character – a Tiefling Rouge with a bent toward anarchy and poison. The story arc was only five episodes long (by design); you can read about it here.

Our Spooky Season TTRPG was going to be a ten-episode campaign exploring a haunted house. I developed a Tabaxi Blood Hunter (Oder of the Ghostslayer) named Sky Full of Stars. Sky marketed themselves as a “Purranomral Investigator.”

Plans changed a little and now we are doing a World Oof Darkness / Vampire the Masquerade campaign. I’ve played WoD before, but this time everyone in the party has to be a vampire. Previously I’ve been a Wraith, Sluagh, and Werewolf (Garu) – but never a vampire. My character is in development, but so far I’ve got a name and a clan: Attie of Clan Nosferatu.

I’ve also been doing some writing for K2 in my Cyberpunk: Red campaign and can’t wait to share those things with the table.

I got a head start on the fall season and began rewatching some favorite like Scooby Doo on Zombie Island, Scooby Doo and the Witch’s Ghost, Scooby Doo: Return to Zombie Island, and Over the Garden Wall.

I also bought myself the Halloween exclusive Pusheen enamel pin, and what a rollercoaster that turned out to be. To make a long story short, there was a production error and I was refunded the cost of the pin; however, I wasn’t sure if my order had been shipped or not. But i got the pin with a mismatched wing and it is quite cool in my opinion.

I also found a really cool light at Five Below!

The change in seasons also means a slight change in the simmer pots. Here is the last simmer pot of summer and the first simmer pot of fall:

I’d really like an enameled pot for simmering . . .

And speaking of foodstuffs, here’s a few random scenes from the kitchen:

Work has been busy – particularly this past week. Due to sickness, I was the only one in the office for about three days, with some folks able to work remote for the other two days. Thankfully some coworkers on other teams kept me sustained with encouragement and sustenance.

I had plans for Friday and Saturday that were cancelled due to Tropical Storm Ophelia. My back is still feeling the effect of the pressure system moving through.

Today, I’m enjoying a relaxing hot toddy anticipating the vegetable soup I made yesterday that has now had a day for the flavors to meld.
