My head is in a weird place mentally and physically. But I’m still game to chat about the week that was.
Monday was freezer pop day, and apparently I have great taste in friends who have great taste, because while our “like order” may have been different, it seems that our top three flavors are all the same, with most folks preferring orange (as do I).
Tuesday and Wednesday were days celebrating animals, cows and kittens respectively, and I was delighted to see many photos of said majestic creatures.
And just look at this Pusheen stuffie Krystal found for me online, which arrived on Kitten Day. LOOK AT THOSE PEETS.

Wednesday was a long day with New Student Orientation by day and D&D by night. Both went off spectacularly, with a high student turnout for orientation and an epic fight and role play session during D&D. If you haven’t been following along, maybe consider reading our synopses.
Wednesday night seemed short what with D&D going a little past midnight and then me being responsible for picking up Panera for work at 7 am and then running lines after work Thursday . . .
But Thursday was also serendipitous as in the Panera pickup was a blueberry muffin – just in time for Blueberry Muffin Day!

But by the end of the day Thursday my brain was shot. How shot? Well, I forwarded an email to three incorrect addresses (including forwarding it to myself) before finally getting it right. It all worked out in the end, but still.
Friday came and I’m still enjoying those summer hours and I just now realized there are only four more left and I’m sad. It’s only taken four years to get used to this schedule and now that I have I want it to last longer.
But Friday was a dreary day, and Krystal said it was supposed to rain – and it started less than five minutes later. We ended up under a severe thunderstorm warning for most of the day, and I found out all but one of my scheduled events for the entire weekend canceled for one reason or another, so this is what folks would have seen had the visited:

And in fact I had one visitor as it was our apartment’s quarterly inspection. It went well and we are glad for that; there were complications with the last one, unfortunately, but now things seem to be back on track.
That evening I drove Krystal to an appointment and stopped for chicken strips and potatoes on the way home and it started raining again (it had stopped for several hours). I was in the pickup line with the window open and I turned the windshield wipers on – with my window down for food. About halfway through their upward swipe I wondered if they would send all that water into the window and onto my lap.
It did.
I’d been posting more regularly about Project 2025 and having actual conversations and while I’m thankful for that it’s taken a lot out of me. Maybe that’s why Pink Pony Club hit me in the feelings on Saturday morning, causing me to break down in tears on the way to Aldi and needing to take a few moments to compose myself.
I then had to go to another store for some ingredients, and one of the cashiers recognized me because “you’re the only one I know that l loves Pusheen so much”. If that’s what I’m known for, I’ll take it and my heart will be happy.
That evening I made Guinness Sloppy Joe:

Of course Saturday night we got the news of the shooting in Pennsylvania, and as a bunch of folks have embraced a sense of doom and gloom I’m doing my best to keep focused. It’s true that Trump’s likely to get a bump in polls, and his image will be everywhere for months, but his plan is unchanged. He will likely feel entitled to enact even greater “retribution” should he win. I’m going to keep talking about policy; his own words and plans can be used to defeat him at the polls in November.
Then, of course, initial investigations revealed it was not a “leftist” as so many folks describe non-MAGA adherents and so the GOP has shifted to appeals to “lowering the temperature” as if they haven’t been almost single-handedly responsible for raising the “political temperature”
I’m still worried about a Trump victory in November, but I’m more immediately worried about the violent vigilantism already brewing on the right (even though the call was coming from inside the house, so to speak).
Anyway I don’t want to end the weekly roundup on a downer, so I’ll let you know I’m making bacon mac and cheese for supper. I know it will be delicious.
What have you been up to?
