Since 2019, September 23rd is Za’atar Day. Za’atar is a blend used in Middle East cuisine containing herbs like thyme, oregano, & marjoram along with other spices including sesame, sumac, & cumin or coriander. Za’atar also happens to be the name of my Paladin’s camel mount in our legacy D&D game!
Za’atar Day

I use a LOT of Za’atar in my cooking. Have to buy it from Egypt, but I get some really cool stamps out of it, so it’s worth it to me. Happy to celebrate today with chicken za’atar tonight!

That’s really neat! My grocery sells something labeled as za’atar which I have used for a couple years now, but I wonder how close it is to what it’s supposed to be

probably very close. Each household blends all the same spices, but may use more of one to their personal taste.
