There are three pretty great holidays today! Take your pick and celebrate whatever combination strikes your fancy.
It’s Kraken Day: pour yourself a shot of rum and enjoy Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest. Back a while ago my friend Logan helped me name a drink he suggested I call a Great Old One; it contained moxie soda, Jameson, and kraken rum. If I had the moxie I’d make one today in his memory. Eight months. I miss you.
It’s haunted house day: perfect for 13 Ghosts or House on Haunted Hill. I’m not one for most horror films but The Shining is a comfort film; how does that work? I don’t do haunted houses this time of year since my “flight or fight” only recognizes “fight”. I wish they did walkthroughs with the lights on and all the characters in full costume but out in the open talking about the lore of the room. But with the lights off and you jump me? That’s not a good scenario. Of course, I couldn’t let this day go by without sharing Gerard Way’s “Baby, You’re a Haunted House”
It’s coming out day: whether you’re out or not you are valid. If you don’t know: hi! I’m nonbinary and use they/them pronouns 🙂 This week my campus has events for mental health awareness week and I stopped by the Pride tent and got two stickers:

House on haunted hill scared the crap out of me! I LOVED that movie!

The original with Vincent Price or the 1999 remake? Both a great in their own ways while being vastly different films.

The remake a very, very different film and is much more visceral, I think is the best word for it. If you’re okay with spoilers, I’d suggest reading a plot synopsis to see if you’d like it first.

yea…followed your suggestion and know now I will not be watching the newer version. Thank you.

You’re welcome! I’d hate to waste your time with something you’re not interested in seeing.
