New Year, New(ish) Me?

I’ve been meaning to write another blog post for weeks now, but I just didn’t feel it. Sunday morning I discovered Saturday Midnight Me left the toilet seat up, and while that isn’t a sign, it was interesting enough that it got me to sit down and write something for you. And then I forgot to post it until today, Wednesday.

So, let’s see. It’s now 2025 and you’ll recall that I haven’t been one for resolutions the last several years but this year I do have a health-related resolution: consume less coffee.

I can hear the consternation now; trust me this isn’t by choice. I had some severe internal distress and eventually I couldn’t ignore it so I went to the doctor and was essentially told that decades of surviving on coffee and peanut butter has taken its toll and I’ve essentially stripped the lining of my stomach. Yay.

Thankfully I wasn’t told to eliminate coffee altogether, but to cut it down significantly if possible. So I’ve cut my consumption down by half and I hate to admit that the doctor was right: I feel better inside and I’m sleeping better and have more daily energy . . . sigh.

I’m looking into teas to help replace the void.

We attended a Chinese lantern festival:

We returned to Harper’s Calling in our Call of Cthulhu game (soon to transition to the Old Gods of Appalachia system)

I made pizza and rumbledethumps and salmon and chicken-and-rice with a gochujang-based sauce and one day my coworker gave me hot chocolate. Along the way our microwave died after at least 8 years of service.

We celebrated our 16th anniversary by ordering Domino’s and watching Arcane.

We were supposed to get a wintry mix this past Friday; behold the total accumulation of our winter precipitation:

What have you been up to?
