Yes, This Is Our Christmas Tree. No, This Is Not A Joke.

It’s become our tradition to have a non-traditional Christmas tree. Our ornaments are nearly all nerd/geek/fandom related, and this year’s tree topper is really a throwback to a different time.

A Visit from Saint Nicholas [2017]

Today is Wednesday, December 6, 2017 and St. Nicholas Day. It is time once again for me to tell you the REAL story of St. Nicholas, or at least a tale more accurate than the usual Christmastime fare.

Weekend Review: Colonial Market Days

I don’t usually talk about weekends because, honestly, not much happens. I do yard work. I read. We go to church on Sunday. But, every once in a while, something happens that I just can’t not write about (congratulations if you followed that double negative!).  Continue reading “Weekend Review: Colonial Market Days”

Saturday Afternoon Beverages

A Comment on Facebook’s Face Recognition Software

Facebook wants me to tag my friends in this picture:

Sure, Facebook – let me introduce you to my good friend Philosophy, along with two putto/genii, and two armrests that aren’t even human figures in this image.

Perhaps you need Art Recognition Software, because as anyone who knows Renaissance art knows, this is the rondel of Philosophy from the ceiling above Raphael’s School of Athens (which just so happens to be my favorite Renaissance painting). Also, you’d also stop removing classic works of art for violating your posting policy.

Still, thanks for giving me some laughs this evening.
