The Spice Must Flow

Spice Blend Day! Pumpkin spice has returned (I await Cauldron-Aged Pumpkin Death Wish Coffee), but I’m also thinking about my tweaked & perfected apple pie spice as well as a particular blend that’s found its way onto salmon & chicken and into tacos, hamburgers, & baked beans. What’s your spice blend of choice?

Welsh Rarebit

It’s Welsh Rarebit Day! Despite some pronunciations, there’s no rabbit in this dish – instead, it’s toast covered in a rich, savory beer cheese sauce (with various seasonings), making it a cheesy comfort food that deserves the same popularity as avocado toast. Now to see if I can make it . . .

Labor Day 2024

It’s Labor Day and I have the day off. Twelfth Night has wrapped and the stage struck, and afterwards the cast partied into the very early morning hours. This is a hopeful post but deals with self-harm and suicidal ideation. If you’re in a space that isn’t conducive for you to read, I understand. I’ll punctuate the post with lots of nice pictures.

Frankenstein Day

It’s Frankenstein Day, commemorating Mary Shelley’s birthday and the publication of her novel “Frankenstein”; written when Mary Shelley had it up to here with men (looking at you, Byron and Percy Shelley) and invented a new genre of literature (suck it, misogynists). Look inside and embrace the monster within — after all, we’re all a bit of a patchwork!
