Like a spinning gyroscope, the Wheel of Time has turned to Teaser Tuesday.
Just in case you don’t know, Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by Books and a Beat. Anyone can play along! All you have to do is grab the book you’re currently reading, open to a random page and share a few sentences from that page. But make sure you don’t share any spoilers!*
*I wish I could take credit for this introduction, but I shamelessly stole it from Heather over at bitsnbooks. To help me make amends, you should go check out her blog.
This week, my current read is the graphic novel Watchmen written by Alan Moore, illustrated & lettered by Dave Gibbons, and colored by John Higgins. This is only second graphic novel, my first being V for Vendetta, also written by Alan Moore.
Because this is a graphic novel, the Truly Random Number Generator is somewhat useless; the page numbers reset to 1 at the start of each chapter. Instead, I’ll share this excerpt from the first page:
This city is afraid of me. I have seen its true face. The streets are extended gutters and the gutters are full of blood and when the drains finally scab over, all the vermin will drown. The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout "save us!" . . . . . . and I'll look down and whisper, "no."
I’m finding the conspiracy / existential crises quite fascinating.
A disturbing lack of Oxford commas and little discussion of the ampersand.
