Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
They are wrong.
The ancient prophecy foretells it:
On a day of memorial and merry-making,
A deluge will descend upon the delta,
And the fear-stricken faithless will flee.
Of course, they’re only words. But words have a way of twisting, and for a time, they were used to prohibit any and all festivities and frivolity.
Then came the enlightenment, and – knowing better – the words were dismissed and forgotten.
Forgotten, until a day of memorial and merry-making brought with it a deluge.
The faithless fled to the mountains, seeking refuge.
They found what they thought was safety, but only stirred a greater monster – one that would prove to be their undoing.
Stupid ants, that’ll teach you to infest my car. I don’t care if the water drove you higher; this is my territory, and I will defend it.
As it is written, so shall it be.
