2016 Bonus Round 2: Bacon v Eggs

The chicken contributed to breakfast, but the pig committed to it.

Every year I try to give my students a fun question on their final exam. This year, I received permission to receive their answers. Over the next few weeks (i.e. summer “vacation”), I will share their answers with you, for a total of 6 questions.

Round 2: Bacon or Eggs? Defend Your Answer.

Antique Pig Sign

Student 1

I like bacon better because eggs have a bland flavor which I personally do not like.

Student 2

Bacon, because crunchy bacon is good and crunchy eggs less so.

Student 3

Eggs, because farm-fresh eggs contain a variety of flavor. The yolk tastes amazing and you can dip toast in it. Eggs can be cooked in more than one way, too! Omelettes, scrambled, fried . . . Dr. Seuss even wrote a book about Green Eggs and Ham, not “Green Eggs and Bacon.” Everyone should read it.

Student 4

Bacon, because it is salty, crunchy, and good when cooked just right. It smells amazing and tastes better than anything you’ve ever had – it is heaven in one little bite. Anyone who doesn’t like bacon cannot be trusted . . .

Student 5

Bacon! I would rather eat meat than poultry.

Fresh Chicken Eggs Sign

Student 6

Bacon, because it has more/better flavor.

Student 7

Bacon, because eggs come out the rear of a chicken, and I don’t think food from there is any good. And yes, I do know where bacon comes from.

Student 8

Bacon, because I like the way it tastes and sizzles. Also, bacon can be good cold, but almost nobody likes cold eggs.

Student 9

Bacon, because it is meat.

Student 10

Eggs, because they are a slightly better health option.

My Answer

Bacon, because bacon.
