Bob’s Burgers Review: A Good Manchego is Hard to Find

It’s Sunday Morning, and that can only mean one thing: last night, I ate a hamburger. Specifically, a burger featured on the hit series¬†Bob’s Burgers.¬†


A Good Manchego is Hard to Find Burger [S5:E10 “Midnight in the Garden of Bob and Louise”]

About the Episode – After being rejected – again- for inclusion in the Community Garden, Bob bribes his way in by hiring the coordinator’s son: Louise’s arch-nemesis, Logan. Bob’s “beauties” grow, but the restaurant is likely to go up in flames. Will he realize in time? Which is thicker: blood or dirt?

About the Burger– This burger required a bit more prep time than the other burgers so far as it required caramelizing shallots. It also made reference to another episode on the show by substituting wet condiments for fig jam. As for the manchego cheese, it wasn’t hard to find at all – I simply asked the woman at the cheese counter in our grocery. So, to recap: lettuce, burger, manchego cheese, caramelized shallots and fig jam on a toasted bun.

The Response

Krystal paired this burger with a tall glass of sweet tea. She said, “It was really really good and made me forget there weren’t any condiments like mustard or mayo on it.”

I ate my burger with a sweet tea as well. I was pleasantly surprised by the combination of tastes and textures. The smokiness of the shallots went well with the creamy manchego cheese and the sweet fruitiness of the fig jam.

Overall, we gave this burger five stars.

  1. I haven’t heard of manchego cheese. Next time I get up to Wisconsin I’ll get some and check it out. Caramelized shallots sounds amazing. The sweet jam with it sounds off-putting but I would totally try it. I’m very into condiments
