Democracy & Donuts For All

And now, a short story leading to a pun.

Yesterday my first hour class was given donuts. We talked about the test they’d taken Monday and then they did some corrections for me.

We were talking about how to divide the donuts equally and equitably when one student said “this seems like we’re learning something, but I don’t know what.”

Another student replied, “Well, we’re all talking about how to divide things equally. Isn’t that relevant to a democracy?”

A third student responded with “Surely you mean ‘donut-cracy”.

[laughter ensued]
