Saturday Morning Coffee

Good Morning! Are you surprised to see me so alert? Well, there’s a reason for that.

You see, I’ve been up since 5:30.

I ran a load of laundry, ran 5 miles, and got an apple pie in the oven. By the time I finished this post, the pie was done:

Now I’m enjoying leftover apples and dough with my morning coffee as I enjoy the World Cup games.

This week I finished my summer school sessions. Though it was only for a few hours a day, it’ll be good not to have to go in unless I *need* to.

Wednesday was an exciting day.

Raleigh SuperCon announced a new guest: Karen Gillan of Doctor Who game (and Guardians of the Galaxy, I suppose). Of corse Krystal and I wanted to add her to our schedule and get a photo op or autograph, but even with the extra money summer school brings we’d be pushing our budget. We decided to go ahead and order the tickets, knowing we’d regret not doing it.

Two hours later I saw a parent of one of my students. We talked for a bit and right before she left she said “hang on, I’ve got something for you.” She gave me a card with enough money to cover 75% of the price of our Karen Gillan tickets!

Later that day I received some very positive feedback regarding my review of John Fea’s Believe Me. It was just the encouragement I needed at that time. Unbelievably (to me, anyway) that review has led to other review (and possible interview!) opportunities. I’ll be sure to keep you updated.

Today marked the end of my second week of marathon training. Here’s how it went:

We continue the battle against the fleas. We’ve gone from an invasion to a stalemate and now we’re fighting guerrilla warfare.

Oh! I almost forgot about seeing these guys on my way home from work:

Apparently Smokey wants to say hi. Here he is:

So, what have you been up to?

  1. That is so cool that you got a gift to help pay for the tickets. And your reviews! And your pies! I am inspired to live well today. And make pie–
What’s new today is my son is visiting all week and brought me great coffee I can not afford. I am waiting for him to wake up and we’ll indulge.
