What a week it’s been. Pull up a chair while I pour you a cup of coffee.
The big news this week is that Krystal went to the doctor. More specifically, the ER. At 1 in the morning. When someone who has a visceral reaction even to the mention of the possibility of going to the doctor wakes you up at 1 AM and says “I need to go to the hospital”, you go. This was on Wednesday, and she hadn’t been feeling well since Sunday. Wednesday morning she said she had pain in her chest, trouble breathing, and pain in her left arm. With a history of heart disease on both sides of her family, she said she didn’t want to risk it. So, to the hospital we went.
All told, we spent four hours there. They did an EKG, took x-rays of her chest, and drew blood for blood work. At that point I nearly passed out and had to go sit in the waiting room.
Thankfully it wasn’t her heart. They diagnosed her with acute bronchiospasms, essentially a severe asthma attack. She’s never had an asthma attack before, but apparently this can be brought on by sickness (like bronchitis) and exhaustion. With all the traveling Krystal’s done over the past month, she may have picked something up.
Thankfully this isn’t permanent; it should clear up in 7 to 14 days, and we’re at 7 days right now from when she first started feeling bad. However, she’s still very weak and hasn’t been able to go into work but for a few hours.
What with all the running around and work and such, I had been awake for nearly 36+ hours by Wednesday afternoon with only an hour or so of sleep somewhere in there. I ended up sleeping almost 13 hours Wednesday into Thursday.
Tuesday would have been Mr Tom’s 100th birthday. I finished this just in time:
Now for the editing, adding photographs, and figuring out how to get it printed. Hopefully it won’t take another two years.
My marathon training continues apace, pun definitely intended. Here’s what this week looked like:
This afternoon I’ve got a Palace event going on: the Stanly-Spaight duel. I’m portraying Mr Graham, Mr Stanly’s second. Spoiler: Mr Stanly wins.
With that going on this afternoon, I’ve already been doing prep for our burgers tonight. I’m trying a few new ingredients, so hopefully it will all work out.
Smokey is doing well, all things considered. We’re still fighting a guerilla war against the fleas, and now he appears to have a bad tooth. But he remains in high spirits, demands his food right on time, and is keeping hydrated. Poor old man.
Oh, I’m also gearing up for an interview with the author of the book I was reading, so there’s that excitement, too. Thankfully I’ve received some good advice from other hosts who’ve done this longer.
Well, that about wraps it up for me.
How was your week?
