Today is National Ampersand Day.
September is also Suicide Prevention Month.
& the two are quite meaningful to me; recall I wrote about why I now have an ampersand tattoo.

“Yes, & . . .?” you might be thinking, utilizing a phrase commonly used in improv – which you may have learned, as I did, from Scooby-Doo: Return to Zombie Island.

I’ve been watching a lot of Sooby-Doo recently; it’s a comfort show.
I’ve also been rewatching Game of Thrones – a show which I like, but wouldn’t describe as “comforting”.

& life goes on
I’ve tried writing here & just found myself . . . blocked up. & I know why: there’s things I want to say, but just don’t have the words yet. & so I put them aside for later.
But later never comes & they dam up my thoughts tighter than a beaver’s den.

& the band played on.
Ragtime & jazz & symphonies on 33 1/3 vinyl

& so it goes
The inevitable becomes, well, inevitable. & the dam will break.

Eventually.
& so we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.

As Nick Carraway would say, at least.
