The temperatures here have dipped into the teens, and for us that’s pretty darn cold. But I’ve got layers of flannel, a heating pad, and warming beverages. Let’s have a chat.
This last work week was shorter thanks to the federal holiday, so of course the rest of the work week had to make up for it by being super weird. Not really busier, but the questions we fielded were certainly beyond what we normally see in a given week.
I suppose I should have suspected something was up when, on Monday (a day I already had off), I opened up Spotify and heard the DJ say “Good Morning, Jay – it’s time for vibe, and that vibe is: quite sad” and then proceeded to play “It’s Called: Freefall” by Paris Paloma.

Well, I decided to make the most of it and added one more thing to my resolutions for the year: sharing a Lyric of the Day at least five days a week. Here’s what that looked like since last Monday:

Which do you like better: the square ones or the larger “story” version? I like the simplicity of the square but the real estate of the story.
Of course this week featured some pretty good food: pierogi one night and I made kielbasa and potatoes for Krystal’s birthday and last night we went out and I had an “Olympian” pizza and Oreo cheesecake for dessert and then one of Krystal’s aunts gave us a container of chili that will hit the spot later on tonight.
If you’re wondering, the pizza had all-natural cheeses, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, and feta.
Oh, and I almost forgot that this morning I had cereal and toast and coffee and a brownie for breakfast and folks online seemed to resonate with it for some reason.

Two other highlights for the week involved Pusheen and Green Day (not together, though that would be an amazing collaboration).
First, the Pusheen Shop finally made a statement about the Year of the Dragon drop debacle:
A note to customers regarding our Limited-Edition Year of the Dragon plush: We would like to both express our thanks for your passion for this design, and sincerely apologize for the disappointment around its rapid sellout. While it’s not possible to re-edition this exact design (due to the nature of it being a limited-edition), we are in early discussions to see what’s possible for a potential color variant release some time this year. While the vast majority of orders were placed by fans who have ordered with us in the past, we are aware of the concerning increase in the level of reseller activity. We are taking steps towards combating this already, and will have additional measures in place for future releases. Once again, we apologize for the disappointment and we hope to create a better experience around limited- edition launches in the future. Kind regards,
The Pusheen Shop
Second, Green Day released their new album Saviors this last Friday. If you haven’t listened to it yet, do it. I’d rank it maybe number three or four out of their discography – behind American Idiot and Dookie in the number 1 and 2 spots, respectively, and perhaps tied with 21st Century Breakdown in third/fourth (at least in my opinion).
Even though I end work early on Fridays, I typically don’t do grocery shopping until Saturday even though all the stores are on my way home. This Friday I did the shopping on my way home; I felt an extra-lazy Saturday coming on and I was right come Saturday morning Present Me was thanking Past Me for knowing what was up – even if I did have to take two bags of garbage out in the cold temperatures because boy did they stink. Of course that meant putting on pants, my laziness outweighed by cold and decency laws and my own personal sense of dignity and respect.
So here I am now, typing this on Sunday afternoon knowing that soon enough Monday morning will be here.
What have you been up to?
