How Cool is That?

So here it is: I’m a day late with my weekly blog post and if truth be told I was this close to just putting it off a other week but I need something relaxing this evening and so I’m listening to podcasts and enjoying some supper while I type this out.

Last Monday was the first day back in the office and it certainly felt like it, with meetings amd lots of emails (over 350!) and folks coming in person . . If I recall correctly, it took me until Wednesday to get my email inboxes under control.

By Tuesday everyone was back in the office and two friends brightened my day with unexpected gifts: I Am Pusheen The Cat from Theo and a motivational tin cup and orange support cat from Holly.

Then on Wednesday I needed more caffeine and so went to the onsite cafe and the person ahead of me said “that’s a neat vest; here, have a cookie” – so that was something that happened and the cookie was delicious

Wednesday was also the return to our D&D game and I got to get back to playing Leaf and while I don’t have our session typed up I can say that Leaf is making friends with a new party member named Ava and Ava’s player and myself have decided their relationship is like that of bonded cats that cannot be adopted separately. It must be a good idea because one of the other players independently posted the idea in our Discord chat.

On Friday another coworker gave me a Pusheen Frog plush and a thank you card for some help I’d given recently, and Friday night we spent a few hours with friends.

On Saturday I went grocery shopping and thrifting and found a copy of Crimson Peak for one dollar.

Saturday was also our 17th wedding anniversary and I made homemade chicken pot pie in a cast iron pan with a biscuit topping and sides of mashed potatoes and garlicky green beans. We watched more of Culinary Class Wars (Brewmaster Yun was robbed of a place in the finale, IMO) and I gave Krystal a crystal: carnelian in the shape of a heart. Carnelian is one of the stone choices for this milestone.

Sunday saw the temperatures drop back into the 50s after being in the 70s and will stay cooler for the next two weeks.

For that, I am glad.

Sunday afternoon we went shopping and I went back to the store and picked up another carnelian for myself. I had almost picked it up the day before but since it was still there it came home with me.

This one is a druzy carnelian, which means that there are spots of quartz attached to it.

Sunday night we got together with family for a late Christmas gathering; I had a mushroom Swiss burger with mustard, and among the gifts I received was a pin of Marie from The Aristocats.

Then today was the first day of the semester, so I was there early at 7:30 with students already waiting for assistance and it was a huge sprint to the end of the day as we had a steady flow of students all the way to 4:58 pm.

And tomorrow is the first day of the Tuesday/Thursday classes so we may see another such influx.

And now here I am enjoying a bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch and a bagel with cream cheese and a glass of a fruit juice blend (apple, orange, and cranberry).

I’m sitting in my car pajama bottoms and my Scooby Doo sweatshirt.

How have you been?
