Christmas was on its way. Lovely, glorious, beautiful Christmas – around which the entire kid year revolved. Downtown Hohman was prepared for its yearly bacchanalia of peace on earth and good will to men.- A Christmas Story
Greetings logophiles and other creative types!
It’s time for Wicked Word Wednesday, and the Wicked Word is:
bac·cha·na·lia [\ ba-kə-ˈnāl-yə]
plural capitalized: a Roman festival of Bacchus celebrated with dancing, song, and revelry
excessive indulgence in something especially to satisfy an inordinate appetite or craving
I’ve waited all year long to use this specific word just for it’s use in the opening lines of that now-classic Christmas movie, A Christmas Story (which I’ve watched approximately 15 times since Thanksgiving). Now, here’s your change to earn your own “major award”!
