I know it’s almost midday, but my brain is just starting to function. Thanks for coming by! I’ve made the coffee extra strong this morning.
This week has been extra long. I know it’s actually the same length of any other week of the year, but so much has been crammed into it.
Family and friends suffered medical emergencies; one of Krystal’s coworkers passed as Krystal and a few others helped organize a memorial for him.
This week saw the end of our first grading period, so students who hadn’t cared about their grades for the last 8 weeks suddenly tried to figure out if there were enough remaining assignments and/or points to bump their grade. Hint: the answer is “no” 99% of the time.
We also held our school’s biggest fundraiser of the year: a fall festival/carnival thing. It makes for a long day, teaching in the morning and running a fair booth until 8:30 or so, but in the long run it’s worth it. Once again I made an apple pie for the baked goods auction. The pie gods were with me early Friday morning as I turned out one of the best pies I’ve ever made in the last 10 years. They were with me again later that evening as it sold for $50!
This morning we had Candlelight walkthrough. It went well, though I was the first time I’ve read my script out loud to someone.
Then, I went for a haircut and headed out to my classroom to finish grading for the period.
Hmm . . . the week seemed much longer when I was living it . . .
What have you been up to?
that pie looks worth 50 bucks to me…I WISH mine looked that good!

Whew – what a whirlwind of a week. One good thing about baking an apple pie: the baking smells can help soothe and encourage during the roughest week
