Saturday Morning Coffee

It’s a rainy Saturday morning, but it’s a long weekend and there’ll be rugby later on. Come on in and talk for a bit.

Some of you might be familiar with the Outlander series. If you’ve read the books, you know the characters visit North Carolina and encounter Governor William Tryon. If you follow the television series, you might know Tryon will be played by Tim Downie. And if you’ve read this blog for any amount of time, you know my wife works at Tryon Palace, where I’ve portrayed my cousin, William Tryon. Well, this week all of that collided into one glorious twitter thread:

Sometime this last week I received a book through Jenny Lawson’s “Booksgiving”. It was amazing.

Tuesday two packages arrived. One contained some t-shirts I’d ordered.

The other package had Krystal’s Valentine present for me, which she gave me early:

Wednesday, I celebrated International Cheddar Day

Thursday I cooked Krystal a special Valentine’s Day dinner: honey & pomegranate baked Brie, charmoula-spiced salmon with za’atar vegetables, and cheesecake! I fixed the appetizer and main dish, but bought the dessert from Famous Restaurant & Baking Company.

Friday the results of my unofficial and unscientific Valentine’s Day poll came in:

Beekeepers 🐝 32%

Plague 💀 27%

Love ❤️ 27%

Epilepsy 🧠 14%

Today I’m hoping to take it easy. Enjoy being inside from the rain with some hot coffee and/or hot chocolate and curl up with a book. It’s days like today that I really miss Smokey, but I’m also thankful for the time I had with him.

What have you been up to?
