Bob’s Burgers Review: Judge Brine-hold

It’s Sunday morning, and that can only mean one thing: last night, I made and ate a hamburger. Specifically, a burger featured on the hit series, Bob’s Burgers.

The Judge Brine-hold Burger [S9:E20 “The Gene Mile”]

About the Episode

When the kids find out they’re been voluntold to run a mile, reactions are mixed. Tina vows to beat Jimmy Jr., while Louise and Gene hatch a plan to score a free scoop of ice cream that isn’t Rum Raisin.

Back at the restaurant, Bob finds out that Cake is coming back to the Wharf Arts Center, but tickets are hard to come by. Bob enlists the help of Linda and Teddy to call in for tickets. Of course, things are never as easy as they appear.

About the Burger

This burger called for brine, which means soaking the burgers. I was a little scared that the burgers would fall apart in the pan, but it all turned out okay.

Brine

  • 1/2 cup ginger ale
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and Pepper to tase

Mix all brine ingredients together

Form 1 lb ground beef into patties and place in a shallow dish/pan

Pour brine over patties and set in refrigerator for 15 minutes

Turn patties over and let sit another 15 minutes

Heat grill or pan to medium heat. Place patties on grill for two minutes before flipping. (You may have to gently reform patties as you take them out of the brine.)

Flip patties and grill for 5-6 minutes per side. Melt some cheddar cheese over each patty in the last minute of grilling.

Serve on a bun with arugula and Coleman’s mustard. Fair warning: Coleman’s mustard can be hot/spicy to some!

Goes great with fries.

The Response

The burger was nice and juicy. The seasoning was spot on, but Krystal said I didn’t spread out her mustard enough and got a big blob of spicy when she wasn’t expecting it.

Come back next week when we’ll try a new, as-yet-to-be-determined burger!
