It’s hot outside but I’m staying cool inside. Pull up a chair and pour yourself a delicious chilled beverage as we talk about the week that was.
Looking back over my photos of the week it doesn’t look like I did that much. And it also kind of feels that way. Work seemed extra-long, with two Events going on that had me going to bed right early on Wednesday and Thursday.
Thursday I started the weekend by having my first Miskatonic Mule in years. A Miskatonic Mule is a drink of my own creation and named by my friend Logan; it consists of a 3:1:1 ratio of Moxie Soda, Jameson whiskey, and Kraken rum. Along with a bacon, mushroom, and green pepper calzone from the best local pizza place, i had a relaxing Thursday evening.
The only thing that would’ve made it better would be sharing it with Logan himself, but thanks to a reckless driver in 2024, that’ll never happen.
I miss my friend.

On Friday I got up late, discovered that I’d placed a book order in my sleep (spending a grand total of $6), did some housework, and then took a breather -only to wake up and realized it was 3:00 in the afternoon! I felt like a failure for “wasting” my day, until I actually wrote out what I did: did dishes, made tea, wiped down counters, swept/mopped the kitchen floor, cleaned the living room so I could vacuum, and prepped a load of laundry (that I did this morning). I guess I just needed perspective.
Saturday was practice for The Laramie Project, and after that I went grocery shopping, coming back just in time for Krystal to come home from work.
She’s had a rough week, and so we had a date night going out to an Irish pub here in town and then doing some shopping to enjoy the Halloween decor already on display. I had a cheesesteak with fries and a blackberry cider; Krystal had a hot hamburger plate and a cornbread muffin. The Halloween decor was lovely but I’m not paying $20 for four placemats (this week, a least), but Krystal did find me a Murder of Crows for $1.00 – so of course that came home with me.

My friends at Mad Labs Studios are vending at Connecticon this weekend, and not only did they announce new scents inspired by K-Pop Demon Hunters, Epic: The Musical, and Sailor Moon, they also announced a 15% off site-wide sale for both in-person and online orders!
Go get your something nice; you deserve it.
This morning Ive been working on writing out my lines and recording scenes with an app that helps you run lines; I’ve very nearly made it through Act One.

It was as I was working on that that my nephew A texted me to tell me his brother C had gone to see last night’s My Chemical Romance concert – a band he hardly knows but which A and I listen to almost devoutly. I heard that he only knew two of the songs of the entire 25-song setlist. This is was was posted on his Instagram:

To say I’m jealous is just a little bit of an understatement. The nearest concert to me is a six hour drive, so that’s out – and I’m still kicking myself for missing their reunion-ish tour five years ago that brought them close enough to be a two-hour drive.
But I’ll get over it.
Eventually.

Interesting read and the day in the life of you. It is always nice to fill your day with what you love. I like the lettering examples.
