Hey there. You might have noticed this is a day week late. That’s because yesterday last Sunday it was raining and I felt very meh and ended up spending most of the day on my back. I won’t say I rested, because I really didn’t, but neither was I in a state to type anything. And then the week got away from me . . . but I’m here now.
Last week The week before last was … uneventful? Work happened and we got back on track after being out for snow and our D&D group had an online social call but didn’t actually play a session and then on Saturday evening Krystal and I got together with a friend for a Palentines Day party where we had pizza and drinks and played a game called Oh My Pigeons – Krystal one the first round and our friend won the second round.

I was talking recently with our work study students about how some of my friends are doing cool things. One of them is an online Creator and was interviewed by the BBC regarding Bad Bunny and later had a TMZ spot and he’s worked hard to find his niche and deserves all the good things.
And I said something like “my friends are out here doing amazing things, and I’m just here doing what I do” and one of them looked at me and said
Well your friends might be doing those things, but I don’t know them. I know you and I think you’re pretty important too.
I was brought to tears.
Then there was the day a very conservative individual called me ma’am. They tried to “apologize” but I was already grinning happily with what I call a “happy heart wiggle” and I think my lack of offense offended them, somehow
I made my annual Girl Scout Cookie purchase and I found some gin and rhubarb wensleydale cheese but I keep forgetting about the cheese but it won’t go bad for a couple months so l’ve got time to eat it.

I saw a few seconds of some awful ad for “shower Pringles” and no I will absolutely not be doing that . . .
Somewhere along the line I made mushroom ravioli and got really into salads – specifically salads made of various lettuces with carrots, cucumber, tomatoes, onions, red peppers, chicken, croutons, Swiss & Gruyère shredded cheese, crumbled bacon, and Italian dressing.

To quote my Grandma Gertie:
A tossed salad is always so refreshing.
Last Sunday night I didn’t really sleep at all – might’ve got maybe an hour and a half at most – and had to do a presentation Monday morning so I knew from the get-go it was gling to be a fun day.
The presentation went well, or as well as it could. At the end of the day I went home, ate some chicken and had a large glass of water, and slept for about 11 hours.
I woke up not feeling the greatest on Tuesday but I definitely felt better than I had on Monday
Wednesday was overwhelming and I was struggling with many little things adding up to a blanket fort kind of night, which was okay since D&D was cancelled due to scheduling (but we’re having Cyberpunk today – yay!)
And to be clear, game being canceled was not one of the things I was struggling with.
Thursday evening was interesting.
I have parked in the same parking space in our lot for almost ten years. In that time, “my spot” has been taken twice. Thursday night made three, but since our management company “removed” unit-specific spots last year there was nothing to do but stare out the window and move my car as soon as they left.
Which I did.

My brother suggested that a traffic cone labeled “maintenance” could serve as my parking valet, and if we weren’t almost directly across from the managing office I might just try it.
For legal purposes, that’s what we call a “joke”.
Friday was a short work day and a good start to the weekend when we went out to eat with my wife’s parents and her sister and her sister’s husband. I had a veggie pizza that came with cheese, mushrooms, onions, peppers, black olives, garlic, tomatoes, and spinach.

Then there was a moment of joy when my mother-in-law asked if I’d seen Krystal’s new outfits she’d bought for her birthday. I said no, and Krystal said she was afraid I’d steal one of the shirts.
“Well Jay can’t do that” she said and I thought she would say “because they’re women’s shirts” but instead she said
because they’re your birthday present
and that made my heart so happy!
Also Krystal was right I totally want to steal the shirt but I won’t. It makes her look like a poet at an open mic night and she’s killing it. We already have plans for some matching outfits. She did let me touch it though and the material is glorious.
Yesterday I went grocery shopping and either desserts have really changed or else certain decisions were made in the frozen pie section.

My money is on the latter.
Now this morning is another rainy Sunday, and the weather is saying there’s a chance we may have up to a half inch of freezing rain or other wintry mix overnight. And while that certainly explains why my back hurts I have to ask:
Where did that even come from?!?
So this morning I’ve been up working on food. Since we have cyberpunk tonight I’m making cheesy chicken and rice in the crock pot and I got hamburger on sale so I’ve made spaghetti sauce for tomorrow and I think maybe I’ll make biscuits and gravy for Krystal because I want her to have something warm and comforting but also I do not want to drive anywhere.

Update: Krystal needed to go paint at the theatre so the biscuit surprise was delayed. However, they met her yum of approval:

So that’s about it for me; what about you?
How have you been?
What have you been up to?
