Here’s my entry…..
AFLAME
Aflame is a peculiar word
The like of which I’ve never heard
It can mean red or gold
Or so I’ve been told
It really is very absurd!
This season the leaves will turn gold
And red, which is strikingly bold
And what a great shame
When the leaves are aflame
That the weather becomes very cold…

all I ask
is a stroll through fragrant leaves
your hand in mine
and a flame on every word
that leaves our lips
this small request
under a burning red maple
