A few weeks ago I asked you for reading recommendations for 2017. In addition to adding a few works suggested by readers, I’ve added more to my TBR, thanks to Christmas gifts of both books and gift cards. In no particular order, here’s what on my shelf (or in the mail . . . or pre-ordered . . . or waiting to be returned to the library) for 2017:
- The Folklore of Discworld
- Hard Rivers
- Taverns of the American Revolution
- The Night Manager
- A Most Wanted Man
- The Road
- Robert E. Lee at War
- The Ugly Game: The Corruption of FIFA and the Qatari Plot to Buy the World Cup
- The Zhivago Affair: The Kremlin, the CIA, and the Battle Over a Forbidden Book
- The Tao of Pooh
- Collecting Shakespeare: The Story of Henry and Emily Folger
- The Consolation of Philosophy
- The Plantagenets: The Warrior Kings and Queens Who Made England
- The Wars of the Roses: The Fall of the Plantagenets and the Rise of the Tudors
- Medieval Wisdom for Modern Christians
- How to Survive the Apocalypse: Zombies, Cylons, Faith, and Politics at the End of the World
- Scars of Inedpendence: America’s Violent Birth
- Norse Mythology
- The Man in the High Castle
…
What are you reading today? Any long-term plans for the year?
I’ve got a long list of books to read but I’m afraid I’m too easily distracted by internet stuff! I don’t know many on your list, but did you see the Night Manager on TV recently? A great drama series, very popular in UK.

Jay! The Man In the High Castle is on my list, too. Have you seen the TV series on Amazon? I haven’t and I am thinking I must read the book first… Also, I can second the recommendation of The Night Manager – it was excellent. Best of luck with your reading challenge. I’ve set a lower bar this year, 20 instead of 25. I have much writing and researching to do. Best of luck! We must compare notes on ‘High Castle’
