A Look Back at Teacher Appreciation Week 2017

Last week was Teacher Appreciation Week, and somehow I neglected that fact on Saturday. But, what better way to start a Monday and a new week of school than looking back on some good things that happened last week?

My principal and the secretaries really go out of their way to make the week special.

Monday: a restaurant gift card. Olive Garden, huzzah!

Tuesday: breakfast from Chick-Fil-A. Greek yogurt with granola & fresh fruit for me.

Wednesday: catered lunch from Panera. Tuna salad sandwich, vegetable soup, sliced apple, and a cobblestone pastry. YUM!

Thursday: a box marked “In Case of Emergency Break Glass” with chocolate inside. Twix, and a note apologizing that the local import store no longer carries kinderschokolade. But, with both Aldi and Lidl arriving soon, I’m hopeful for next year.

Friday: a two hour delay due to tornado watches and warnings. So, this wasn’t planned by the principal, but it was still welcome.

Friday was also our sports awards ceremony, and my cross country team presented me with a gift card to use toward a new pair of running shoes!

During the week, students also gave me fruit, granola bars, Dunkin Donuts gift cards, and some even brought in frappuchinos from Starbucks. It’s like they know me!

One senior asked, “So if there’s a Teacher Appreciation Week, when is Student Appreciation Week?” To which I replied:

Every week is Student Appreciation Week!
