Teaser Tuesday: Persian Fire

Like a runner settling in for a post-race celebration, the Wheel of Time has turned ’round to Teaser Tuesday.Just in case you don’t know, Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish theme, and anyone can play along! All you have to do is grab the book you’re currently reading, open to a random page and share a few sentences from that page. But make sure you don’t share any spoilers!*

*I wish I could take credit for this introduction, but I shamelessly stole it from Heather @ bitsnbooks. To help me make amends, you should go check out her blog.

I think I’m still on track with my reading challenge; it’s hard to tell on the app. I suppose the main positive is that I’ve not *stopped* reading, so I’m that much closer to reaching my goal.

The other weekend I mentioned I found one of the many books on my TBR: Persian Fire: The First World Empire and the Battle for the West by historian Tom Holland (not the actor, as many of my students thought).

The Goodreads Blurb:

The Truly Random Number Generator sends us to page 79:

Always present, blank-eyed yer watching him, were the masks. The faces of heroes to inspire him; and the grimaces of idiots, of gorgons, of deformed and toothless hags to remind him of the ugliness of failure.
