No, it’s not the setup to a terrible joke; it’s pretty much how I spent my weekend at Raleigh SuperCon. This is Part Two of Three.
Here’s Part One if you missed it.
We slept well Friday night and got up Saturday to get our berserk on. Make that Berk, as we went as Vikings from the How to Train Your Dragon book series. I went as Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III and Krystal as Camicazi. Behold, my transformation:
Krystal’s axe is huge at six and a half feet. She made it to come part for easy transport (thankfully!)
Today we made it through prop check with ease and were soon on the convention floor.
We started out by attending a panel, a MST3K style takedown of a late 80s anti-drug cartoon. It was sidesplittingly hilarious!
Then we decided to stand in lines to get autographs. It had to happen sometime 🙂
We went and got Tom Kenny’s autograph for Krystal’s Dad, who absolutely loves SpongeBob Squarepants.
Then we went to Catherine Tate’s signing line, where we were handed a playing card. We chatted with the handler, who then asked what card we had. I told him we had the jack of hearts and he handed us another card, the ace of spades, and told us to give it to Catherine and see what happens.
Y’all – we were given the lucky card in Catherine Tate’s signing line and scored a bunch of selfies! We were actually given the option of another autograph, but we chose the selfies and she didn’t just take one – she took SO MANY SELFIES. Here are two of the best ones:
Are we related? Maybe.
Y’all, the day got *even more* amazing. We decided to get Jyoti Amge’s autograph (the world’s smallest woman at 25 inches) and she ALSO wanted selfies with us! She even held Krystal’s battle axe!
I kid you not, Krystal and I were in tears.
We wandered the floor until it was time for the John Barrowman & Catherine Tate duo photo op. Capt. Jack Harkness and Donna Noble! Huzzah! Catherine remembered us from the signing earlier. Barrowman was cheeky – as usual!
Later on, we went to Barrowman’s Q&A. It was unique, to say the least. Emotional. Wow.
We bought some blind boxes: mystery boxes organized around a theme. I just couldn’t pass up a Bob’s Burgers box, which held a metal bank, coffee cup, lanyard, patch, a set of shot glasses, and a keychain. Score!
We also found some amazing cat-themed art, with cat versions of Loki and Castiel. The Loki looks just like Smokey!!
We went back to the hotel to rest a bit and have some supper (sandwiches and chips from Jimmy Johns).
We changed costumes and went as Dean and Castiel from Supernatural. We just spent time people watching, and quite a few wanted our photo!!
Krystal even found a Weeping Angel:
Rather than staying out late, we decided to head back to the hotel and pack up what we could and then get some rest. This was the right call.
Stay Tuned for Part 3!
This is Krystal and our friend Jessica as The Collector.
