Clever Title Here

Well. It’s Sunday and the last day of winter break so of course I’ve decided to clean the living room and I’m sitting amidst a pile of stuff having lost my will to clean and so I’ve decided now is the perfect time to write a blog post. I guess instead of pulling up a chair you should find an empty spot. There’s still drinks, of course.

This last week has gone by in a blur. After watching the dogs last week I finally felt that I could relax, and so I did – which means my brain has run everything together, so I’m looking at my photos to jog my memory.

On Monday I took a shower, and when I got out there was a label stuck to my arm. And I mean after I toweled off, too, so I really have no idea what it could mean. I suppose I could try a reverse image search, but I keep forgetting, and even now I’m just not motivated to do it.

And I couldn’t even take a photo in focus!

Also on Monday I reached a milestone: after almost four years of very very very sporadic writing (sometimes going months between entries) plus one year of relatively consistent writing I have finally filled my first journal!

I already have my next one ready to go 😊

On Tuesday I finally mailed the last of our Christmas packages, and for supper I made chicken and rice and veggies:

On Wednesday, which was also New Years Eve, I made pizza and salad and attempted a homemade ranch dressing – which we enjoyed by watching the new episodes of Culinary Class Wars and a few episodes of Twin Peaks.

The goblets my brother sent me were perfect for an evening of gin and tonics, which I made with a citrusy gin and an elderflower tonic. I temporarily misplaced my bottle saver cap and resorted to using a leg lamp Christmas Story-themed wine stopper. It worked marvelously.

Someone asked how I was leaving 2025, and this image from Welcome to Derry came immediately to mind:

I also did a look back at 2015 in twelve pictures.

  • January: I won an emo keyring; now I always know where my laundry room key is 😂
  • February: Lest cosplay from Arcane with items gifted by my friend Ciarán and a wig from my friend Alex (I think?). I am privileged to have been trusted with Lest and greatly enjoyed CabinCon with Krystal and Ciarán and Alex and Rosie and Tasha and Jax (AKA the DotComrades)
  • March: I flew to PA along with my brother Charlie and his wife Denise and met u with my other siblings for my mom’s birthday!
  • April: Krystal and I cosplayed our D&D characters Ahri and Kai at our local renfaire!
  • May: We went to the Oddities Expo and had a blast
  • June: Prom!
  • July: I had no photos from July, so here’s some clip art of a Raven
  • August: We attended Lizzie at the New Bern Civix Theatre
  • September: I got flowers while acting in The Laramie Project. It was such a difficult show but so necessary, so very worth it, and was well-received by the community
  • October: Dipper and Mable went to the Fayetteville ComiCon and met one of the Gravity Falls and Mystery Inc artist animators!
  • November: I got a new vest and felt spiffy
  • December: I got two new tatoos for my birthday from Ghost Art Tattoos – a medieval cat churning butter and a Discworld / MCR mashup.

I also made a bingo card for 2026:

On Thursday I did nothing but rest and watch TV. I even stayed off social media as much as possible. For supper I made hot dogs and attempted to use baked beans from a can, but I’ve spoiled myself by making my own baked beans, and these were Not Good.

On Friday and Saturday I went to some thrift shops and picked up some art and other home decor, an unopened game expansion for a game we have, and a Jaws movie collection.

On Saturday, Krystal requested I make sloppy joes, so I made my famous (within my family) Guinness sloppy joes.

Oh! I almost forgot to tell you that I made a few small resolutions for 2026:

  • Journal at least once a week
  • Meditate (and/or do a guided meditation) at least two times a week
  • Print at least one good photo from my camera roll every month

And that brings us up to today, where I’m trying to get up the gumption to finish cleaning the living room while The Umbrella Academy plays on the TV. But since I can’t even come up with a clever title for this week’s post, it’s not looking good.

What have you been up to?
